A New Year Brings Fresh Pool Trends
16 JanHard to believe that 2014 has come and gone, and we are now a couple of weeks into the New Year! Like every year, last year had some fabulous pool and landscaping design trends that inspired several Barrie residents to get on board, installing a gorgeous new swimming pool in their backyard escape.
While 2014 pool trends included glass tiles, attached hot tubs, pool decking, geometric design, fitness features, and intricate custom elements, 2015 will highlight some of those popular trends, plus exciting new trends, fresh just in time for this year’s pool season!
Glass Tile
Glass tile began to be a prominent feature last year due to its sleek look; smooth texture and beautiful depth of colour. This year, we’ll likely see more pool owners adding this design piece to their swimming pool for an all around high-end, classy backyard oasis.
Knife-Edge Pools
Knife-edge pools are all the rage this year, and we couldn’t agree more! Similar to the ever-famous “Infinity Pool”, where water flows over one edge of the pool to create a never-ending effect, with Knife-edge pools water flows over all four edges of the pool, for a mirror-like effect. If you are drawn to the Infinity Pool style, you’ll absolutely love the enhanced look and feel of a Knife-Edge swimming pool.
Tanning Ledges
Tanning ledges while not for everyone are growing in popularity and will likely continue to. Typically this ledge is covered in about a foot of water on the edge of your swimming pool. It’s the perfect addition to your swimming pool if you have young children, or if you enjoy relaxing and lounging around your pool. Connect an umbrella and you’ve created the perfect space to unwind and cool off without jumping right in!
Natural Designs
The Natural look is becoming an increasingly desired look, with more and more people seeking environmentally-friendly options when it comes to all aspects of their Barrie home. These designs are structured specifically to blend into your landscape, appearing like a pond or a natural spring. Take it to the next level by incorporating features such as a stunning waterfall, water fountain, in-pool lighting, or even a fire bowl for a contemporary or romantic setting! You’ll feel like you’re on vacation as you experience the tranquility that comes with the sound of flowing waters and comfort of a fire feature.
Illusion Hot Tubs
Rather than a separate hot tub, integrating an illusion hot tub into your pool design may be an attractive alternative in 2015. These hot tubs rise out of your pool to blend into one coherent look. It’s important to plan this out during the design phase of your swimming pool, as doing so after the fact will be an extremely difficult and timely job.
As we dive into 2015, we are excited to make your 2015 pool resolutions a reality! Whether you’re interested in implementing some of these creative pool trends, or have your own visions in mind, the team at Bluediamond Pools will do whatever you have in mind to make your backyard truly shine!
