Barrie Winter Weather is Upon Us! Protect Your Pool!

So, you’re preparing to close your pool up for the winter. While this probably isn’t an exciting reality, it’s important that your swimming pool is closed properly; after all your pool is a major investment, and therefore one you want to ensure stays protected throughout the year. Winter conditions here in Barrie can be quite harsh; taking the necessary steps in properly closing your pool will prevent hassle and potential problems when it’s time to re-open come Spring. At the end of the day, the more efficient your closing process goes, the easier (and quicker) the opening process will be!

Turning to a professional pool and landscaping company in Barrie will assist you in preparing for a stress-free pool season next year. For an efficient process however, we do request that complete some simple pool closing tasks prior to our arrival for final closure:

Here are 5 Tasks to complete before your pool closing appointment:

  1. Inground pools with sump pumps should be pumped down 48 hrs before closing. We cannot close your swimming pool with a substantial amount of water in the sump well.
  2. Vacuum pool before closing. Cleaning your pool prior to closing will save you time when reopening it in the spring. We do not provide vacuuming as part of our closing services.
  3. Drop-in steps and sand bags that hold steps in place need to be removed.
  4. At least one week before your scheduled closing date, please make sure that your pool water is fully balanced chemically. Water that is not balanced and left that way during the winter months, can cause liner fading, wrinkles, and staining.
  5. Please clean salt cell and cartridge filters. Salt cell and cartridge filters need to be stored indoors.
  6. Make sure all pool equipment, accessories and winter plugs can be found quickly by our crew to complete the pool closing process.
  7. Please ensure you leave your hose out and that your water and power are turned on at the back ofyour house.
  8. Please make sure that Blue Diamond Pools has complete access to your backyard. If any special gate code or access instructions are needed please notify us of these right away.
